Cake is a performance about the insistence of beauty. If a cake is a symbol of beauty or meaning is it still beautiful or meaningful after it is altered? This piece challenges perceived notions of beauty, the differences between literal and abstract, and examines how time alters our perception of beauty. Audiences witness three things happening at once; cake changing over time, water changing over time, and the perception of a person over time. There is a progression from a literal understanding to an abstract one.
